CHRISTmas Special

Hi Friends~

Thanks so much for stopping by to read my posts. I just wanted to give you some encouragement for the upcoming CHRISTmas season.

Without looking far, it is very easy to identify how commercialized this sweet and precious holiday has become.

It often stresses people out with the cooking, planning, and gift buying more than it brings the joy, thankfulness, and excitement that it should bring.

I just wanted to check in and share with you a little about my family. I have really been praying for the Lord to help me as a mother to help me be more creative and resourceful to foster good, close, meaningful relationships in our home. The things that our children are going to remember are the sweet memories and the traditions that we create for them.

They are not going to remember what "toy" or "gadget" you bought them.

When they are older and reflecting and looking back on their childhood, it will be those sweet memories that fill their hearts with love, joy, and comfort.

So I challenge you this CHRISTmas season to focus more on the love and relationships as opposed to the commercialization that we are everyday faced with. There are many things that you can do for all budgets that will help teach your children the true meaning for the season and create great family memories.

Get Creative and Resourceful. Leave a comment with one of your favorite resourceful family traditions. Let's create a "idea bank" for all our readers.

Here's One:

Have a special family breakfast (Before CHRISTmas or CHRISTmas Eve) to talk about the season. We have small young children so we will be doing lots of small, easy to understand talk with our sweet and precious gifts) You can choose the topic. Throw on some sweet CHRISTmas music in the background, light some candles, and set the table all nice. Put a little card, verse, or song title by each person's plate that has to do with the season. My favorite is "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" It is a very comforting and encouraging phrase to me. Make it special and intimate. The fact that the breakfast is not on CHRISTmas or CHRISTmas eve makes it even more special and exciting. Don't choose a date to do it every year. Make it random. You will best be able to tell when your family needs a refreshing moment with the busyness of the season. Wake up early to do this and surprise them. (Cinnamon Rolls are always good and appreciated) This may seem like a lot of work, but I promise SERVING your family is WAY WORTH IT! I truly believe that the LORD will bless you for it.

Alright... Here it goes

As many of my close friends and family know I've been wanting to start this blog for a while now.

However, I haven't done it because of my own insecurities... Will anyone care? Will anyone read it?

Is my web page pretty enough? Do I have it designed well enough? I've been waiting for quite some time now for the optimal moment to make my big blogging debut. I've had all kinds of little tid bits that I wanted to share. But, I just haven't done it.

After spending some time trying to pick out the perfect font yesterday... It dawned on me how silly I was----- All I was doing was making excuses for not doing. That's something that I'm kinda big on right now. I feel like people in general "talk" about doing stuff, but there is no action.  I don't want to be like that.

Well... Here it goes... I'm going to try and leave my fears behind and start this journey. I don't know where it will take me. But I can tell you that I am excited and am looking forward to this adventure together. I hope you will join me.
