How to get the Perfect Husband

Hi Friends-
A pic of me and my Sweet Man and Best Friend
What a title!

Wouldn't we all like to know How to get the Perfect Husband

We all want that right? Well Girls......The secrets out. No husband is perfect. We are all fleshly sinners saved by grace. The answer is very simple- We must change our perspective and our attitude. We must intentionally choose to love our husbands unconditionally willfully and joyfully.

BUT...... Even though our husbands will not be perfect (nor us- even if we might think differently). We can strive to be that Godly wife that God has given to him. Early in our marriage I read the book by Stormie Omartin, The Power of a Praying Wife. I thought the chapters and concepts were very good. I gleaned some great nuggets of wisdom that would help me in our marriage.

I was looking back over my journal recently and found my notes on that book. I had condensed her chapters into short notes for myself to help me in my prayer times. It is a short compiled list of ways to pray for your husband. Finding my list was a great reminder for me of ways to pray for my sweet man. I'd like to share it with you. Click HERE to get the list. Print it off and put it somewhere that is easily accessible when you need a little encouragement or a quick reminder of ways that you can be lifting your husband up in prayer. ENJOY!

Drink More Water

I love the feeling of the New Year turning and then the feel of the New Year turning to Spring...I love all the flowers blooming, trees budding, being able to play outside with the kids until the sun sets. It's such a nice transition of New Beginnings and Fresh Starts.

You hear many people making goals... Mainly about exercise and being fit.

Our bodies are a precious gift from God and it is important for us to be good stewards of our body and take care of them.

Many people struggle in this aspect whether it be- a love of food or hate of exercise or just a combination of the both. It can all be traced to some form of a lack of self-discipline (Please be aware that I'm not talking of someone who has physical ailments or health concerns that prevent them).

I wanted to write this post to encourage you that YOU CAN DO IT! In 2 Timothy 1:7- It says For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline. God did not create us to be weak and unable to conquer our fleshly nature. He has so graciously and lovingly given us a spirit of power and discipline

If you are struggling in this area- Ask God to help you with it. Go to him in prayer. (Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all comprehension will guard your heats and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7)

Having trouble getting started? Here's something easy to start with. DRINK MORE WATER. There are at least 100 GREAT reasons to drink water... But I don't want to overwhelm you- So here are 3 reasons to Drink More Water.

1. Drinking water helps your energy level. The main reason many people feel fatigued is because they are dehydrated. Did you know that your brain is made mostly of water? and your muscles? No wonder you feel fatigued when you don't have enough water.

2. Water helps flush toxins from your body (This helps your kidney's and liver function better)

3.WEIGHT LOSS- Drink water instead of your calorie drinks. Those calories from cavity juice  sugary soda's, juice, and teas add up faster than you think.  Water has 0 calories, 0 carbs, and 0 sugar. You'll be amazed at how much that helps. Your body also sometimes mistakes hunger for thirst.

Here is a tip on how to start if it is hard for you. As soon as you get finished with your coffee in the morning (And I'm sure we all drink only 1-2 cups right?...... Well.... Let's not talk about that right now) Anyways.. After you finish your coffee- Immediately fill up your pretty water cup. (Mine says "Serve the Lord with Gladness" What a great reminder to look at all day)

You must drink it and fill it up 3 times before supper. If you do- then treat yourself to your favorite beverage at dinner.... If you don't drink all your water- Then happily pour yourself a glass of ice water for dinner. Don't forget to put the lemon on it? It makes it look so much better!

Sounds like a small easy enough goal , right? Try it out this week and see how it goes. If you don't have a cute water cup.... I recommend you get one:) I never leave home without it.

 Thanks for stopping by

Pie Day

Pin It Hi Friends! Happy Pie Day! ( I know... Cheesy please forgive me. I just had to say it.)

Last year my mother in law gave me the great idea to have a "Pie" party on 3-14. (I'll take any reason to have friends and food! Wouldn't You?) Have some friends over and serve Chicken Pot Pie for dinner, serve various pies for dessert- fellowship, laugh, giggle, and visit and then send everyone home with a homemade pie crust..... Sounds fun doesn't it?....

Well... I failed. I totally forgot! I woke up this morning to plan our menu for having guests over for supper this evening and then it dawned on me that it was "Pie" day.... and I completely forgot to have my "pie" party.

So to salvage my plans I decided to serve a pie for dessert to our friends. A good ol' homemade all the way from scratch strawberry pie. I love having guests and preparing and planning for them. I'm so glad God designed us for relationship. Aren't You?

During the process of making this homemade pie for our friends. I broke my favorite dish.

I was so bummed! And after I made the pie- I decorated it too early so it didn't look as pretty for my guests.

I was planning on blogging about my pie recipe and taking lots of pictures to show you guys the pretty pie........ But then my pretty pie pretty at all.  This is real life.

Has something like this ever happened to you? After I figured out my pie wasn't going to be as pretty as I planned, I immediately hurried to make some cookies for a back up. (Most bloggers probably wouldn't post this info ha!) I didn't want to serve our guests an ugly food! (I believe you eat with your eyes as well as your mouth? Don't you?)

Also- when I broke my favorite dish- It made such a loud noise that it woke my sleeping babies. What an afternoon? I thought... Maybe I should change my blog name from Embracing Grace..... to "What not to do...". Here at the Farris homestead we live the "real" life with mistakes and failures (Let me just add the word "daily" to that sentence).

Please tell me you do this in your family too? But I'm so thankful that there is grace. One of the Websters definitions for grace is Divine love and protection bestowed freely on people.  I'm so thankful for the grace our heavenly father bestows upon us and for the grace that my friends and family freely give me.

No one complained about the "ugly" pie. We all ate, caught up on each others, lives and had a great time. Posted below is the recipe for the pie. It is pretty... Just don't make the mistake of decorating it too early like I did. haha.

First I made the pie crust. I used Pioneer Woman's recipe.

First I combined 3 cups flour with 1 teaspoon salt. Add 1 1/2 cups shortening. Cut with pastry cutter until it resembles small pebbles.
Next I added a ligthly beaten egg. Also- go ahead and add 5 Tablespoons of cold water and 1 tablespoon white vinegar.

Grab your sweet toddler and have her help you stir the mixture until it is just combined. Use two wooden spoons. (Very important)
Now it's time to roll it out and put it in the pie plate. After I put the decorative edge on mine. I put foil on around the edge so that it doesn't burn. I take the foil off when there is about 5 minutes left on the pie. Cook the pie crust for about 10-12 minutes @ 400 F
Now it's time to make the glaze. Very easy. 1/2 cup sugar mixed with 1 Tablespoon corn starch.

Bring 1/2 cup water to a boil. Pour the sugar mixture into the water. Cook on medium heat until it thickens until "glaze" consistency.
Next pour 1.5 oz of strawberry jello mix into the glaze. Turn off heat and stir until all dissolved. Set aside and let cool. By now your pie crust should be done. While the crust and glaze are cooling to room temperature. Cut up your strawberries.
Aren't they pretty? Put your strawberries in the cooled pie crust. Pour glaze over the top.  You can now add whip cream and garnish to the top to make it appealing to the eye. I added chocolate chips to mine.
Now... to the honesty part. I put the whip cream on WAY too early. So when my guests arrived-  The pie didn't look pretty anymore. :(  I was pretty bummed. I knew it wouldn't look as pretty a couple hours before they were expected to arrive.........So what did I do? Revert back to safety. Whip up some chocolate chip cookies. and put them on a pretty platter.

I gave my guests a choice... Yummy---not so pretty pie OR yummy pretty cookies. What do you do in such a dilemma. duh! Eat BOTH!
We had a great evening with Money Family Musings enjoying food, fun, fellowship and TACOS.
Here is a pic prop to my big helper.
If you're reading this I'd love for you to like my Facebook Page and subscribe to my blog by email.  I get so excited when someone else joins me in my real life journey of Embracing Grace. (No Really,,,, I do get super excited)
